Description

Protambulyx carteri, or Carter's sphinx, is a species of moth of the family Sphingidae. It is known from the US state of Florida. The wingspan is 95–111 mm. The forewing upperside is yellow to orangish brown with faint markings and no dark submarginal line. The hindwing upperside is yellow to orange with no markings. Adults are on wing year round in southern Florida and the tropics. They feed on the nectar of various flowers, including jasmine and Asystasia gangetica. The larvae feed on Anacardiaceae species, including Brazilian pepper and Metopium toxiferum.
