(Calabaria reinhardtii)
Calabaria reinhardtii is an abomination described by Schlegel 1848.Calabaria reinhardtii is named after the Danish zodiac John Theodor Reinhardt,it is the only one in the genus Calabaria, which is part of the Boaormar family. No subspecies are listed. The family name refers to the city of Calabar, located in the area of distribution. This worm usually becomes 1.10 meters long.It is characterized by the fact that the head and tail ends look almost the same. The species is mainly dark brown to black scales.Sometimes several red scales are involved and some specimens have white spots. The white spots are usually found at the tail.Probably enemies will be confused when other snakes have their white areas on the chin. The head is characterized by small eyes that have the same color as the mountains and a narrow mouth. The range of species lies in western and central Africa from Guinea to western Congo-Kinshasa.It lives in forests and chases different small animals like young rodents.Calabaria reinhardtii therefore digs underground walking systems. The female adds one to four eggs per occasion. In rare cases, copies that climbed into the bushes' low parts or hiding in termitic stacks are documented. An individual who feels threatened creates a ball by rolling up with his head hidden and the tail on the outside. The female is not laying on the eggs before they hatch.Young people who were detained in captivity were already sexually matured after three years.Calabaria reinhardtii's life expectancy is probably up to 20 years.
