Phelsuma inexpectata is a lizard from the suborder geckos and the genus of the Madagascar day geckos ( Phelsuma ).The species was first scientifically described by Robert Friedrich Wilhelm Mertens in 1966.Originally,the scientific name Phelsuma ornata inexpectata was used.Phelsuma inexpectata lives endemically in parts of the Mascaran archipelago and occurs in Mauritius on the island of Réunion.Phelsuma inexpectata reaches a head length up to 5.8 centimeters and a total body length including tail to 13 cm.The lizard has a green color and has a clear body pattern without streaks.The number of scales rows on the center of the body is 100 to 103.
