Description

Coelops robinsoni is a bat from the genus Coelops that occurs on Malacca,Borneo and Mindanao and Mindoro in the Philippines.The Filipino populations are sometimes seen as a separate species,C.hirsutus Miller,1910;these populations become the separate subspecies C.r.hirsutus.Only a few examples are known;so there are only two copies of C.r.hirsutus.The holotype from Malacca and an animal from Borneo are very similar.This species has just like other Coelopsno tail.A copy from Borneo had a forearm length of 36.5 mm and a skull length of 14.6 mm.The total length of the single copy from Mindanao is 40 mm,the hindfoot length 9 mm,the ear length 14 mm and the forearm length 35 mm.The holotype of C.r.hirsutus from Mindoro has a forearm of 33.8 mm.
