Like all three species of the genus Lophophorus,the male has a much more showy and colored plumage than that of the females;in the case of the lophophor of L'Huys the male has a green snout with blue-bordered eyes,the neck of red tending to orange on the shoulders,the tail and the wings are of a blue-greenish color,the the back is green and white,the beak is black,while the legs are gray;the female alternates shades of brownish to cream,all blacked out
