The copper pheasant ( copper pheasant ) is a species of bird galliforme family Phasianidae endemic to Japan.The scientific name commemorates the German scientist Samuel Thomas von Sömmerring.It is a large pheasant,with a rich plumage of copper chestnut,yellowish beak,brown iris and the skin of the red face.The female is brown with the upper parts grayish brown and barred suede and dark brown below.The male has a short spur on the gray legs.The male is between 87.5 and 136 cm long including the tail and the female between 51 and 54 cm including the tail.
