Description

Echinocereus x roetteri is a botanical species of plants in the family of the Cactaceae . It is endemic to Mexico and New Mexico and Texas in the United States . It is an unusual species in the collections. It is a natural hybrid of Echinocereus coccineus and Echinocereus dasyacanthus .Echinocereus × roetteri grows individually or with branching and then forms groups of up to 20 or more units. The stems are cylindrical green from 15 to 20 cm long and have diameters of 8.5 to 11 centimeters. It has from 11 to 13 ribs available. The areolas with five to eight straight central spines, extended reddish and from 1.2 to 1.9 centimeters. The 11 to 16 radial spines are extended, reddish-gray, straight and up to 1.5 cm long. The flowers are wide funnel shaped flowers and mostly orange, but may vary to pink or yellow or red.
