Description

Neobuxbaumia euphorbioides (Haw.) Buxbaum ex Bravo is a species of flowering plantin the family Cactaceae. It is endemic to San Luis Potosí, Tamaulipas, and Veracruz in Mexico. It is an unusual species in collections. Neobuxbaumia euphorbioidesIt grows rarely branched with green stems that reach 3-5 meters in height and diameters of 10-11 centimeters. The 8 to 10 striking ribs are considerably corrugated. The spines are straight and otherwise more or less horizontal only on the foil. The single strong central spine is dark brown and 3 cm long. The 7-9 radial spines are straight, light gray with a darker tip 5 to 12 millimeters long. The flowers are bell-shaped and narrow and appear more numerous near the tips of the shoots. These are reddish pink, 5 to 8 cm long and can reach a diameter of 7 cm. Its pericarp and flower tube are covered in small bumps with nectar glands and small scales. The green fruits are 8 cm long. Neobuxbaumia euphorbioides was described by (Haw.)
