Terminalia zeylanica is a two-hearted plant species described by Heurck and Muell. Arg. Terminalia zeylanica is included in the genus Terminalia and the Combretaceae family. Terminalia or just ( scientific name : Terminalia ) is a genus of about 100-190 species of large trees in combretaceae (Combretaceae), distributed in tropical regions. The scientific name for this genus is derived from the Latin termus , referring to the fact that its leaves grow on top of the stem. Plants of this genus are known as secondary metabolites , such as triterpenes and their derivatives, flavonoids , tannins and other aromatic compounds . Some of these substances have anti-fungal, antibacterial, anti-cancer, and liver protection properties.
